About

Efthymios (Makis) Karatzas, currently is employed at the Institute of Applied and Computational Mathematics, Heraclion, Crete, Greece in collaboration with NTUA, he has recently worked as principal investigator in a Numerical Analysis grant, hosted at SEMFE, NTUA, Athens Greece and in affiliation with SISSA mathlab, Trieste, Italy. Before he was working as a research grant holder at SISSA (after public competition and research proposal successful submission for the FSE European Social Fund HEaD “Higher Education and Development” Regione Autonoma Friuli – Venezia Giulia), and as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Chalmers University of Technology and University of Gothenburg. His research interests are focused on numerical analysis with PDEs, large scale computations and scientific computing, dynamical systems related to optimal control with PDE constraints and applications, uncertainty quantification, model order reduction, finite element methods, embedded/immersed boundary finite element methods, mathematical biology, and chemistry.
